Second stage hoses are 9/16" UNF at the second stage end, which cross refs to JIC -6, cheap and ubiquitous in industry.

I know i can drop $40 and get a doohickey from Triton, et al, but machanically speaking can't I just jam a cheap JIC-6 to NPT coupler, maybe with some thread tape, into my old second stage hose for filling tires and such?

if you want to use air tools, to me the best way to adapt them is this
$4 for a BC nipple to 1/4 NPT-M
DGX Adapter: 1/4-Inch NPT Male = BC Inflator QD Post
$6 for a quick disconnect to air tools. This way you can use them with any standard air tools, and any standard regulator with a BC Inflator. Won't have enough CFM for big power tools since it's a schrader valve, but more than enough for tire inflation, impact gun, etc
