Some dive lights have the integrated charging ability to charge the batteries in the flashlights. It’s more convenient, especially on the go for dive trips. But some people told there are also benefits to external charging. You can continue using the flashlight with spare batteries when he battery charges. And you can also select the suitable current for efficient charging, and maximize battery health on some smart chargers. Which charging method do you prefer?

Removable batteries, every time. In lights, cameras, computers, everything. For the reasons you mentioned and countless more.

For handheld rechargeable lights - absolutely removable batteries. I prefer that the light is sealed with replaceable o-rings and doesn't have an external charging port that could be damaged, plus then you can quickly swap batteries between dives and always start a dive with a freshly charged battery.

I'm really warming up to lithium ion batteries themselves with the built-in USB-C port. I can charge them up on the drive home from the dive and not wait to put them on a charger back home when diving locally, and one less charger to pack when traveling.
