I'm kindof new at diving I have tried La Janelle Shipwreck but all I see is Spider Krabs and thats it. I am 16 years old and do free diving and I have a boat to the Channel Islands (Anacapa, Santa Cruz) but im kindof scared diving there. Can anyone give me tips about diving there and where are some of the best spots to dive, plus is it dangerous there. I only want diving spots no more than 30ft, I have a speargun but i have not used it yet should I put 1 band or 2 bands on it. OMG I yesterday I saw these two boats pull into the harbor and WOW they went spearfishing and got 3 gaint White Sea Bass, If I were to get a fish like that would I need 2 bands on my gun and if I shoot it is it hard to handel it. Im located at Port Hueneme and Would like to join a more expericened free diver just to see where the good spots are at and what to do, I will chip in gas if I join you and if you guys that caught the White Sea Bass read this i wana join your group haha.

P.S. Sorry if you dont understand some parts that I wrote.

Ana Capa is a good place to have a safe experience. The front side is a neat spot to have some first experiences, Safe but it is mostly a preserve. Lots of things to see and an opportunity to dive shallow. The walls are actually sort of steep so depth does increase rapidly after a a bit so care is needed. The dive boat Peace does a lot of trips to the area and has a experienced crew. If I were you I would try to get some education about hunting and all that's involved. Steve is an experienced hunter and may offer some advice. The Peace has a shop as well.... I think and perhaps you can get some advice there also in Ventura. God luck
