I'm issuing a challenge to some of the vocal Kingston people on this board, As of this AM I have resigned from POW and now instead of telling your friends how discontented you're feeling, you know have the chance to prove yourself and prove your worth, as an added bonus I will give the board updates on how well you're performing these tasks instead of pm’s, emails and bar talk.

Tom:
I am sorry that you have decided to leave the POW (Preserve Our Wreck) executive. I thought you where doing an outstanding job as V.P. I was impressed with your actions this spring in organizing the mooring day- and recruiting the help of GLUE. You definetly showed the proper spirit by lending a hand and helping out when it was most needed. Your reasons for leaving seem to echo the sentiments that I had when I gave up my position as mooring Director. It is a shame that people would rather complain about how poorly an organization is preforming than actually help out.

For those who would rather help than complain I suggest they look at the POW website www.powkingston.com as it will show you what the organization is all about.

With the impending imact of CSA 2001 on diving we will need groups like POW and SOS to represent divers- and to protect our access to the wrecks we already enjoy diving on.

For years I have been diving in the waters of Ontario enjoying the wrecks which are second to none found anywhere in the world. I must say that organizations such as SOS and POW have demonstarted a care and preservation of these historical time capsules of Canadian and American societies in a way a mother guards her child. The efforts of a few who have taken it upon themselves to educate divers and protect these valued treasures can not go without notice, we applaud you. If we are to continue to enjoy these artifacts then we must show a concerted effort in support to those who will be our voice to any governing body set to affect our access. We must continue to show that we as a community will care for , protect and foster a better understanding of the importance of such historical remains for this generation and tomorrows. Governments and organizations such as POW and SOS need to work together for continued free access to our nations historical signifcance. Those whom any governmental regulation will negatively impact the most must stand up and declare themselves as the guardian of such objects, and state that no further regulatory actions are needed but a willingness to work cooperatively to protect them and have them accessible for all. They who see the wrecks daily will know best how to protect them.

Wonderfully put. People like Tom and others have paved the way for alot of discovery. I think it is time that we as divers take a step back and realize that without them diving would be totally different.

I might live in Florida now but I did my teething dives on those ship wrecks. Cudo's to those who are now the watching over them. Tom and Cliff and others do not give up.
