The morning started off with my cell phone ringing even before the dreaded pager went off. I saw the number was from the higher brass and knew it couldn't be good news. Reported 41 year old suicidal female jumped off a local bridge. Fortunately, we had a very credible eyewitness with an exact point of entry.

Once we got all geared up and the boats on scene, we had our victim inside 10 minutes from the time the primary diver started the search. I've said it before but I am incredibly proud of our team. They performed flawlessly and by the book.

The sad thing about this one is that she appeared to be 7-8 months pregnant. We couldn't get this verified through Mobile Crisis before we left the scene but it sure didn't look good. Definitely a sad state of affairs. The good news is all team members got the job done and went home with all ten fingers and toes.

That sweet! I like to hear when a dive teams respsonce time is Impressive! It always gives us a little hope for that rescue... kudos to your team!

Thanks for the kudos but it was a recovery. We (OEM) are called in by the Fire Department once they determine a rescue is no longer possible. Overall, it took our resources about 1-1/2 hours from the time we got the call to the time we had a diver in the water. The 10 minutes period was the time the primary diver began the dive until he signaled he had the victim. We are still very happy with the time since all members are volunteer and have to come from all our the county.

Good job by your team. Per the above, I think it's better to not know. The more impersonal the members remain from the task, the better it is at times.

I agree with Dan, congrats on the quick find, but get the body to the surface and let the others tkae care of it from there. Get your divers out of the water and on with your lives. You did your service, and the family is always thanksful for the closure.
