My daugther convinced me to get certified when she and her husband moved to Hawaii. What a fantastic hobby! They have now moved back to the states so she and I are planning a trip to Cozumel. Looking for to at least 5 days of two-tank diving.
 
There are some lakes that are only a state away or so for your local diving, research and might find some place in nebraska also.
