Hello guys,

we are looking for a certification site for new Open water divers for the first weekend of May. We usually certif our divers in the Flintkote quarry in Thetford Mines, but apparently there still may have some ice cover at this time of the year.

Any alternative? Morrisson? Ontario?

thanks for your help!

We went to Morrison's Quarry today. The ice is gone! The water was air clear, BUT the water temp on the surface was 4.1 C and 3.7 C at depth ( 40metres). We were comfy in our dry suits and enjoyed a 35 minute dive around the quarry, but by the first weekend in May (just over 2 weeks from now) the water temperature will have hardly moved...not really a rental wetsuit/open water training environment in terms of temperatures. Usually the surface temp is around 8 C then with no improvement at depth. Today there was no thermocline to speak of....The St. Lawrence won't warm up till June.

OK... What I thought after looking at other threads about water temp!

Now the good side of your answer? 4 C is just perfect to try my new drysuit this weekend! :)

Thanks Blue!
