(1) How big is the critter?
Semi-cylinder, about half golf ball size

(2) Where in the world is the critter?
Sydney, Australia

(3) What sort of habitat (reef, wreck, sand, rubble etc) is the critter in?
Sandy bottom adjacent to small pier

(4) How deep is the critter?
Five to seven feet

(5) What time of day (or night) did you see the critter?
Evening, an hour after sunset. We saw several cuttlefish and octopus during the same dive.

(6) Any observed behavior of the critter...
It looked like an octopus with no arms and could move rapidly and hover like a cuttlefish. It had the prominent eyes of both species. It could move easily in any direction and rapidly buried itself in the sand each time it felt sufficiently far from a diver.

(7) If the locals have a common name for the critter, what is it?
The local diver I was with had never seen or heard of this critter.

Pictures, where are the pictures?

Pictures, where are the pictures?
The aforementioned local was trying to get photos of the thing. It was impossible to anticipate its direction and it was QUICK!

He may have a decent shot. I'll give him a day or two to check the shots from the dive and see if I can post a pic.

cool. I can't wait to see them.
