Someone should be by that dives there.

We dive locally at Clark's Hill and the Savannah River. Not too far from central GA. See my previous post or pm me for questions.

Welcome to the board!!

Clark Hill and the Savannah Rive Andy is talking about is in N. Augusta. Diving is good but a lil cold for most. I think it great. Cool water means less people. Maybe see you around some time.

There are multiple spots on the Savannah River near Augusta for diving. Entering at the N. Augusta Boat ramp near riverview park. A short dive across to the GA side is where an old garbage dump was pushed into the river(bottles). The SC side has large boulders u/w (this was originally in the fall line of the river before the lock and dam was installed. We find various fish and freshwater eels. This is not generally done as drift but rather a swim across to GA side, look for bottles while swimming up stream, cross back over to SC side and see the fish life around the boulders @ 1200 psi drift south back to the entry (don't miss the boat ramp). Dive is 18' deep.
Other river dive is the 5th Street Marina to the old marina (Phelps drive.) Thsi dive has a shipwreck (old) in 15' of water with the bow, boilers and deck planking intact, a new wreck on the GA side about 100 yards downstream from the boat ramp, the old Hamburg cotton docks (they cut these off about 4-5' u/w but the base and pilons are there with fish life. Large boulders on the GA side. The old Hamburg Bride on the bottom. Neat 1-2 hour drift dive. Water temps are currently 72. Vis is lousy this weekend due to the heavy rain. the river is best dove after several days of no rain. Vis can be up to 15'. PM if you are coming this way and you can join us on a lake or river dive.
