Cenotes in cozumel pretty consistent at 72-74 I've been seeing this winter.

Is that above or below the halocline? I was there last year and after heavy rain the fresh water was practically frigid. I just hung around in the deeper parts. Nice cave over on the Island.

Are we talking about cenotes on Cozumel or the mainland? My mistake if we were talking about Cozumel. I did not know people dived the cenotes in Cozumel.

I was referring to the cenotes on the mainland, which for me on Sept 3-5, 2017, did average 77F, per my Shearwater Perdix. :D

I only dived the cavern line not the cave line and my deepest dive was only to 49 feet, so that may account for some of the discrepancy, although my understanding was that the water temps should be pretty consistent...maybe I’m mistaken.

That's the chilly bits, maybe a little colder as I've not hung around below the themocline long, generally dip in and out of it, in a shallow system. Fresh part of Aerolito was 72 two weeks ago too though. Haven't calibrated my computers recently but they normally are pretty close.

Diving the Cozumel cenotes is not something that is available to the typical diver who goes to Cozumel.

Why not? There is no gate, drive up, gear up, jump in. Cenote is guarded by a small croc though.
