Trip Overview

Arrival (April 18)
Guests may choose to fly directly into Cozumel, International Airport (CZM) or into Cancun International Airport (CUN). Those guests who fly into Cancun must travel via shuttle/taxi to Playa del Carmen and then by ferry to Cozumel.

Note: Trip price does not include airfare or transportation on arrival and departure dates.

Once guests arrive to Cozumel they will secure transportation to the Villablanca Garden Beach Resort. A trip leader will be at the resort upon the group's arrival. Depending on the time of arrival, divers will have the options of getting their CCR ready to go for the next day of diving, make a check out shore dive at the hotel, or kick back and relax.

Boat Diving (April 19-23)
Breakfast is served at the hotel from 7:00 AM.
Divers are able to fill CO2 absorbent and swap cylinders from 7:30 AM-8:30 AM.
The dive boat will depart the hotel pier at 8:30 AM.

Dive times will fluctuate with the dive sites, weather, and the group's desires. The general idea is that the group will make a 2-hour morning dive, have 2-hour surface interval with lunch, and make a 2-hour afternoon dive. Including travel time to and from the dive sites, the group will be back at the hotel by approximately 4:30 PM.

Once back at the hotel, divers will hand over their cylinders to the trip leaders to fill and have the opportunity to rinse gear and fill their canisters.

Villablanca Garden Beach Resort has a gourmet restaurant that serves dinner from 3:30 PM-10:30 PM. Otherwise, guests can walk (15-20 minute) or take a taxi to downtown San Miguel to experience the full flavor of Cozumel.

Mayan Riviera (April 24)
This is an all day excursion into the jungle. After breakfast, the group will depart the hotel and travel to the mainland by ferry. The specifics of this day will be based on the group's certification levels. Both cave and cavern diving will be available. The Yucatan Peninsula is home to some of the largest and most beautiful cave systems in the world.

Off Gassing has its Benefits (April 25)
We recommend each diver takes a day to off gas and enjoy non-diving activities. After six days of diving, guests have the opportunity to explore the other side of Cozumel. The possibilities are endless.

Departure (April 26)

Check out is at 11:00 AM. With any luck, we will all meet again for another adventure.

We have been to Tek Week in Grand Cayman and we were allowed to dive to our certification level which is 350 feet. Did not see in your trip any mention of depth limits, wreck dives or what we could expect to see? Also, what kind of depth are off shore from the hotel?

We are planning on using air as diluent for this trip. Trimix is available on Cozumel but it is outside the current plans for the trip. Although some sights can go much deeper, the general plan is to remain between 50-150 feet.

The aspect of the trip regarding "certification level" has more to do with cave diving versus cavern diving. If divers are not cave certified they will only be able to make cavern penetrations on the day we visit the mainland.

The dives in Cozumel will be centered around the reefs. While diving CCRs we will be able to combine multiple dives sites. To the best of my knowledge there is only one shipwreck in Cozumel, but I would need to check with German Yanez to confirm.

If divers have specific goals they would like to accomplish on the trip, we are happy to entertain any suggestions. The particular dive sites and profiles will be determined based on the group's experience level and weather conditions.

Best of luck with the trip. I wish I could go, but I'm already commited to a trip to Grand Cayman with Advanced Diver Magazine and Rebreatherworld the same week. I saw German's Nautilus when I was in Cozumel in July. It really looks like a sweet unit. Have a great time.
