We are heading to Cayman Brac and staying at the CB Reef Beach Resort. I searched through the threads here and am anticipating a great time. From all of you who have been there what are the diving must dos .... non-diving must dos .... and were there any incidentals you wish you would have taken ( goofy stuff perhaps like ice tea mix or something they didnt have ). Are you able to shore dive from CBRBR??? Any words of wisdom and insight would be appreciated.

Dale

There's no shore diving from the resort. Shore diving is possible at other sites on the island. Radar Reef is often mentioned as a good shore dive and I have heard of people doing a shore dive on the Tibbets, which involves a bit of a surface swim. The Tibbets is generally considered a must-do and it will certainly be one of the sites you will dive. It's interesting, but having done it twice, I wouldn't be upset if I never did it again.

None of the other Brac sites really stands out it in my mind. The real highlight is the once-a-week (weather permitting) crossing to Little Cayman.

Must do's. - Beats me, never been there.

Should take.- Hockeynut!!!!

I'm not sure if CRBR is letting out tanks for the other side of the Island (which is only 2 to 3 miles from where you are staying) as they did stop for a while. Radar reef is good as a day or night dive. Also theres an entry area called the Buccaneer. You can dive the Russian wreck if you can get tanks.
The Brac resort will have good food. There are a few other restaurants but you must have a car.
You should check out some of the caves (above water - need car)
You should get to the lighthouse on the Bluff (need car)
You should go to the end of the Island just west of where you are staying as the sunsets over Little Cayman.

You can grab bikes at the resort and ride them into town or to the other side of the island if you want. Also, if you speak to the ladies at the front desk they can help you get a rental car for several hours or a day. The rental cars are easy to get and driving on the island is easy. Make sure to speak to the rental car agency about getting a map of the island, they can also recommend caves and other activities to check out.

I thought that the food at CBBR was great. My wife and I took along snacks to eat after diving but breakfast, lunch, and dinner kept me filled up.

Have fun.

We went to Cayman Brac a few years ago and had a good time. Our off time diving we rented a car and did some of the caves. We enjoyed the diving but the one that still stand out in my mind is the day we went over to Little Cayman and dove Bloody Bay Wall. Fantastic! It is high on my list to stay on Little Cayman so we can do lots of dives on that wall.

Hope you have a great time.

If I knew you a little better I might ask you to give my daughter a hug for me.
She works for Brac Reef Divers.

But I don't...so I won't !

So who's your daughter? Wife and I were there in December and are in the process of scheduling again for this November. :42: Ken
