I just went onto www.cavediver.net , another form I belong to, for cave diving, and when I clicked onto the form's, i got a hacked message , this was copied from the page :

What the hell is this ? I can't copy the image, but there hacking scuba forms now?

It's pretty lame. Probably just pimply-faced high-school wanna-be-hacker kids.

They do it to get recognition by defacing a high profile site. Defacting something like the NY Times would give them bragging rights. This is like spray-painting your name on the sidewalk in front of the DMV. It's interesting, but in the end most people really don't care.

Several places across the world have been affected. I doubt cavedivers.net was specifically targetted. I have not been to that specific forum, but have read the reports.

Exploit CVE-2005-1750 (usually an asp based sql injection) has been identified at one site using a Linux Apache server and Invision 1.2 software.

I suggest doing a backup here at SB just in case, regardless.

Probably some script kiddies showing off. You would be surprise to find out how common this sort of stuff is becoming now. More serious hackers usually dont attract attention and try not to leave any trace of their break in, if possible.
