Is there an agency whose first cave certification lets you dive to 1/3 of total gas in back doubles and that doesn't expire? I don't mean to imply I want to cheat or bend rules at all, just curious. More curious about the differing limits and expiration of the various reputable agencies.

Thankfully not. There's more than enough trouble to get into at the intro level with 1/3 of 2/3 or with sixths.

The New NSS Apprentice Rules are the following
50cuft of penetration gas or 1/3 of doubles/sidemount whichever is less
1,000ft of linear penetration on the mainline.

Apprentice... so that is one level beyond Intro, right? Does it expire?

Apprentice is now the first level of cave certification you can earn under the NSS. It has no expiration, but it is its own certification with any cavern drills not counting toward it.

NAUI Cave 1: 1/3rds of doubles, 2 navigational decisions. The program is a minimum of 5 days long and requires intro to tech as a pre-req.

Sweet so NAUI and NSS both have switched to a new model where you can penetrate to 1/3 of doubles. I wonder if TDI will do so soon as well?
