For single tank diving. Would catalina tanks matter in terms of bouyanvy and trim? Compared to a luxfer / metal impact?

What about for deco bottles? I feel like its heavier?

I don't think it makes a big difference for single tank unless you are diving dry and want to shed some of the lead in which case you should go for steel vs aluminum.

Stages are always aluminum to let you remove / add tanks without changing too much your buoyancy. For very technical sidemount where you need to remove your main tanks mid-dive, aluminum is better because it's less negative and easier to handle underwater.

ok its between Metal Impact alum and catalina alum.

planning to sell off some of my old tanks… they were bought 2nd hand with pittings already.

so single tank wetsuit diving. all good. Catalina.

deco tanks catalina 80s also ok? doesnt change much?

Which Catalina?
S80 - 3000 psi, 31.3lb, -1.6
C80 - 3300 psi, 34.7lb, -5.8

Metal Impact
S80 - 3000 psi, 31.5lb, -1.7

OP asked specifically about single tank diving. No difference in the S80's. Does ditching 4 lbs of weight help? go for a c80. Is lugging 3.5lbs more tank on land bad? go for a S80. Does saving $80/tank help? go with a s80.

There is also Thunderbird AL80's and N80's with similar characteristics to S80 and C80.

Back when I was slinging tanks Luxfers were always preferred (butt light). Catalinas seemed to hang low. No idea if that's true of current models.

NBD for single tank use though.

Ok i didnt know there were 2 types of catalina…

Ill check if its s80

In case its s80 it should behave like metal impact s80?

Nothing against Luxfer or others but I do like Catalina tanks and especially their 63. They are perfect for me for hour long dives in less than 60 feet of water.
