I'm going on an "All Ladies Cruise" through my LDS on the Cat Ppalu in Early June. The trip is booked solid already. This will be my 3rd live aboard (I've been on Blackbeards & the Caribbean Explorer I). Is there anything that I should consider to make this trip a great one? I would be curious to hear form others who have been on the Cat Ppalu about their experiences. Thanks.

The LDS has done the Cat cruises and love them. That is the only dive trip that they book solid for.

I understand that they have two "classes" as well. One you take care of your own bunk. The other they take care of it for you. I'm sure that there is more to it.

One of these years I will do a live aboard! It will at least be 2012 if the girlfriend has her way.

Well, it has been a few years since my lady and I were on the Cat, and we have certainly seen bigger and more comfortable boats since then, but the Cat still holds a special place in my memory. Sure, it's slower than dickens, and it is sort of hard to find a comfortable place to lounge around outside on it, but what the heck. The Cat hosted the first deserted island wedding that I ever saw, and man- that was a kick. I would advise getting one of the cabins with the dual bunks if possible, and whatever you do- do not get caught in that little cabin with the sunken window! Man, is that one tight! We had the other one with the double bed in the rear of the boat, and that was a lot better. I always wished for one of the dual bunk cabins after I saw them, however. Space is pretty cramped any way you look at it, though, but probably no worse than those Blackbeard boats that you have had experience with. And I still have that unique water mug that they gave us on the boat- ah, what memories. Some of the finest food we have ever had on a liveaboard, and we have seen a lot of them. I wish you well on your trip, and tell the old girl that I still think fondly about her from time to time. Woody
