Hi! I'm scubajoe60 and newly certified for ow. I live in ne Pa. and had a max depth of 52ft.[loved it!!!]. I got certified to dive while cruising. going to st. thomas, kitts, aruba and curacao in two weeks and i need some direction as to the best operators for a newby, [only 8 dives] any suggestions would be appreciated. i did some research and JADS in aruba comes up a lot. also The Dive Bus in curacao.

At Curacao go to Atlantis diving, its near Willemstad. It's by car probably 5 min and by bus (public transport) direction Mambo beach, 10 min. Good guides, good trips (Klein Curacao, playa Kalki and Tug boat are great) and it’s a cheap and safe one! Don’t forget to visit the beaches of Westpoint, I would recommend Playa Kalki especially. Don't go to lions dive (only if you want a boat dive) they are very expensive!

A few years back my wife & I dove a day with Admiralty Dive in St. Thomas, and were very pleased and would use them again. Whenever I've seen them mentioned on this forum, it's been quite complimentary.

Richard.

Admiralty or Blue Island Divers will pick you up off the cruise pier in St. Thomas. You are on another cruise right?

I believe all the Dive Bus can offer you is a shore dive off Pierbaii beach in front of their facility due to your need to make it back for your sailing. I'd contact Atlantis or Ocean Encounters - they're the cruise operator on Curacao afaik. (and for Lions Dive mentioned above) If you're there the right day(s), (and want to spend $200) you could do the Dolphin Dive, it takes place in 40' about a 5min. boat ride from their dock.

fwiw, Westpunt and Playa Kalki are at least a 45min. drive from the cruise port. So the logistics might be a little difficult unless you go out there with a boat operator - many diveops in town only do it as a special trip due to the distance.

Jads dives fairly deep on most dives and it didn't look beginner friendly. I went with red sail and had a great experience they usually do 1 deep dive and 1 shallow dive. I looked at jad however it did seem a little more advanced then what I am comfortable with

Thanks to all who responded. I am a little nervous and I feel confident in your recommendations. Yes dw and myself are cruising and we have decent port times, the shortest one's being St. Thomas and Kitts 8-5. Thanks again and I'll definitley be back after vacation.

Hello everyone, did a 2 tank dive with clive paula in aruba,FANTASTIC:D clive has a #58 on his divemaster card and claims that he and his friend named the reefs around the island when they were diving with "horsecollars". small local operation , ther were 6 on my dives. will definitly go with him again:D
