We are:
  • Kids: 14 & 4 year old boys, 12 & 9 year old girls
  • Parents/uncles: 7 of us in our 40s. Four divers
  • Grandparents: in 70s. Grandmother is active, grandfather isn't
The divers want good diving (naturally), but we need lots of activities for kids. Some of us are sailors too.

Willing to spend above the average. Some of us are vegetarians. Most of us are picky eaters.

Cozumel has amazing diving, but I'm not convinced the island would be fun for non-divers.

Must be easy to reach from Philadelphia.

Any suggestions?

If it were not for kid activities I'd suggest St. John. Activities in place for children may be hard to find anywhere there is good diving. Parents generally provides their own. Snorkeling? Catching lizards and hermit crabs? Supervised swimming? Older kids should be capable of amusing themselves. A few good books?

Barbados fits the bill, lots for kids to do surfing, horse riding, paddleboarding, a sailing club, snorkelling, seabased waterparks, monkeys etc and for the adults great food, good rum and the beers not to bad! There is a great variety of accommodation to suit all budgets

Diving is good, plenty to keep you interested if not truly world class.
