I have recently been certified as an open water diver. We are going to Cozumel in Feb. and I can't wait. I have always loved the water and this gives me a whole new way to enjoy it. We have completed our class for Nitrox and will be taking our open water for that in Cozumel. I feel like I am reborn. This is going to be great! My only concern is that I have trouble clearing my ears. Sometimes it takes me a long time to descend. Some say to try sudafed, others say, no. I am especially concerned with the potential hazard of using this with nitrox. Any suggestions?

hey chippers. My wife uses it with Nitrox and no problems..

Welcome to the board!

Clearing gets easier the more you dive. Keep on diving!

Hi Chippers!

Welcome to ScubaBoard.com! Congratulation on getting certified! Welcome to the Adventurous World Of Diving!

Take it slow & easy! Try equalizing before you descend & equalize more frequently and gently! I have sinus and sometimes I do have problem equalizing! Do you have one?

Anyway, Happy Diving!

THANKS, No I don't have any problems with my sinus. I do try to equalize often as soon as I start my descent. I have to equalize literally every 3 to 5 feet. I also have to be very careful on ascent. I may try the Proear mask 2000. any thoughts?
