I encountered the link a few weeks back on a photog forum.

I think the video and site accomplished a few goals for Canon.
-Educates the consumer.
They get an idea of the amount of work and technology put into the manufacture of each lens.
- And because of this they're probably more willing to pay the high price of lens and buy more in the future
