Rule of thumb - shoot the lowest available to you. Don't be afraid to break this "rule" in various circumstances, but be aware that all of photography is a trade-off...when you increase one thing, you decrease something else ;)

Ed_Dman here on SB shoots with the S80 - check out his posts and photos...hopefully he'll be here shortly and can tell you exactly what he does. I'm guessing he shoots at 50 or 100 (I can't remember what the lowest is on the S80)

spankey:
does anyone know what the native ISO is for the S80?
ISO 50, played with a S80 a few weeks ago.....
50 is the lowest ISO which in Canon Powershot cameras is usually the native/default ISO.

Have a look at the dpreview review for more detailed info or check out the camera model page on the Canon website.

I normally shot with ISO50 or 100. You wouldn't wanna touch anything more than 100. I would suggest you get to know your camera more, the more you know, the better you shoot. Like what Alcina said, don't be afraid of experimenting with different settings! Have fun! ;)
