This may have been answered a while ago, but I can't find the thread

Any way to improve S100 battery life while using an external ttl strobe. Does decreasing internal flash intensity increase battery? But will ttl still function? Doesn't strobe ( S&S YS 110a) just use the light emitted by the internal strobe as a trigger and the actual strobe intensity is a metered relationship between the illumination level of the scene and quenching the internal strobe output (thus quenching the external strobe)when enough light hits the target

Or am I just stuck with changing the battery after every dive

The answer is no if you use ttl battery consumption will depend on how powerful is your strobe
And 1 battery change each dive seems poor either you shoot wide angle at full blast all time or something is going on with batteries
Are you using genuine canon?
The s95 does well over 2 dives with the sea and sea ys01 and canon batteries

wa...but close shots...ttl...canon battery...doing both jpg and cr2...nothing unusual...using CHDK

The NB-5L battery has always had bad reviews

The only thing that influences is the strobe if you point it straight forward and you use small aperture it will dump full force and so will the internal flash
What lenses have you got? Also try to disable everything except my script on CHDK and make sure CHDK is not saving another RAW file itself

I recently upgraded to the S100 from the S90. I found that disabling the GPS function greatly increased battery life.

Btw, liking the high def video, especially on night dives. Sooo much better than the S90.

Safe diving.
