Hello all, very new to underwater photography. I bought a cheap older powershot to play around with underwater and having fun with it but looking for an upgrade any ideas? Money is a concern as is my low level of skill so looking for something quite basic. heres some pics ive taken with my powershot. always looking for opinions.

What a coincidence: I was just trying to decide what to do with my wife's SD600! She likes using it on land but it pains me to consider buying an UW housing for it. If I may ask what you are using with your SD600?

I use the canon WP-DC4 underwater housing. Since i bought it all used a few months back it all came together. I use the flash that the camara has. Nice little camara to get comfortable underwater with but the battery on mine isnt holding a charge in cold water for as long as Ild like so looking to upgrade.

I recently tried a canon elph 300. It worked great. You can get it for about 230 bucks. The case is about 190 bucks. It takes an SD card. However, with the higher resolution for both stills and videos, you may want to get a bigger card.

What I ended up purchasing was the SX230...I thought it'd be awesome when I'm out of the water as well. I was right. I sold it after my vacation for exactly what I paid for. The camera was MSRP at 360, the casing was 190. The price should be coming down for this thing soon.

If you have the screen and the bandwidth, you can check out this clip in 1080p (instead of the default 360p)
