I just purchased a new Canon Powershot Pro 1 camera (digital, 8 megapixel). I intend to use it for my own personal photography (outdoors, indoors and underwater). I am familiar with photography (mostly using an old 35mm film camera) but I am nowhere near to being an expert.
After diving for about 11 years with multiple certifications, I am just now getting into underwater photography. The Pro 1 is similar to the G6. The Ikelite housing is also similar but not quite...the housing for the Pro 1 may require an external flash accessory. Recommendations/advice?
What other recommendations do some of the more experienced underwater photographers have for a novice besides reading the books and maintaining the equipment? How secure are Ikelite housings? Any issues?
For rougher dives in currents/enviroments, any clip on tips etc to keep the hands free? Any tips on longer duration week long dive trips? Liveaboards/remote diving?
I take it, a good way to practice photography is in a stable quarry with plenty of time on my hands. Any tips in this respect.
Thank you in advance for your expert advice.
