Does anyone else struggle with this, or is it only me?

- I have an A620 with Canon housing and no external strobe and am generally happy with the camera and quality of pictures.

- I normally shoot macro-type pics with the internal strobe on and white balance set to "auto"

- I switch to flash off and use a manual white balance for anything less than macro

- I sometimes switch to movie mode and take short vid clips - I also use the manual white balance for this too.

My problem is when I switch back and forth, the button presses are time-consuming...

>Func set, arrow down, switch from manual white balance to auto, Func Set
>Toggle flash button to on

I'm very familiar with the settings, so this only takes about 15 seconds, but still... it seems like I'm spending too much time doing this stuff. But... if I leave the white balance on Manual, and take a pic, it's too red. If I leave the white balance on auto and don't use the flash, everything is blue.

Does everyone have this issue? Do the newer Canons have a better way around all this button pressing?

The only solution is for consumers to insist on better quality cameras with knobs and dials instead of buttons and menus buried in sub menus with short cut buttons in yet another menu.

The S series requires much fewer button pushes in normal use.

why don't you take two cameras with you?;-) Some of the other canon cameras come with custom setting mode that would allow to save a no flash or flash setting without having to do this. The g series has 2 setting and the s90-95 one.
