Canon A Series are great. Lots of ways to take great pictures. :)

Here is a quick hint for all those with the Canon Housings. For those of you that take out the diffuser once in a while. You notice that the diffuser will sometimes float in front of you lens if you don't hold onto it. Well, if you don't want to worry about holding on to it heres my secret. I ended up putting one of my wifes Hair Rubber Bands/ties to the same place the diffuser string is tied. It just rubbery enough that when I take out the diffuser it pulls it back and out of the way. It actually works pretty good. If you interested, check out the picture below!! Good Luck and happy diving!!

hey spoon, I keep my o-ring in a small clean ziplock bag and close the case when I'm storing the housing (I have a cat, little hairs are evil), just be careful of overhandling the o-ring when popping it on and off to prolong it's life.

thanks. thats what i was worrying about. i have a difficult time popping the o-ring alone and usually need a pal to help me dish it out while i squeeze the two sides together to create a elongation easy to pull out.

There's a trick to that -- get an old pen lid (plastic) and use the shirt-clip part of it to slide behind the o-ring. Make sure your pen lid doesn't have any sharpish corners, and you'll find that removing & replacing the o-ring is a piece of cake!

Though I don't have any cats, I too, store my o-ring off the case -- I give it one-half twist and then fold the ends together so it fits inside a small bag inside the closed housing.

thanks will give it a try later!

Spoon,
I don't leave mine on the camera because I don't want it to strech and distort. I used to be really anal about lubbing it and storing it every time, etc. Now after 75+ dives I lub it every 3-5 dives or so, but I do make sure I don't have any hair on it...cat hair is evil on o-ring seals:) Anyway, for me storing it inside the case works great! Zip lock bags are great too, either way, I would suggest taking it off! I've gotten pretty good at squeezing the top and poping it off!!

Chad

P.S. Has anybody tried the rubber band yet??? :06:

I'm curious if it worked for anybody? Or maybe people just don't take their diffusers out :06:
