I received a Canon G9 for Xmas and I am still learning how to setup its functions. Tonight bought the canon underwater camera. I got home and test everything out with it. Looked good until I tried to change the shutter speed and aperture. To date I have always used the wheel to change the shutter speed and aperture, but can not use the wheel with the underwater housing. What other mode is there to change this?

I shoot in manual mode and set my shutter speed and aperture. So the ability to change this is a must. At 60 feet underwater opening the case is not an option.

What about Ikelite? Does its housing have the option to change the shutter and aperture?

Thanks

I noticed this too, and thought that maybe this was an oversight by Canon as I couldnt initially find anything about it in the manuals.

After reading and re-reading the booklets, I finally found a section in the housing manual which explains how to do it. In short, you need to use the "S" shortcut button at the same time as using the arrow buttons. As a full explanation, the book says the following:

Using the Control Dial
Using the control dial with the waterproof case differs slightly from that of the camera itself.

If you have previously saved some functions with the "S" shortcut button, disable the shortcut function by ......

1. When you want to turn the control dial clockwise, press the -> (right arrow/flash) button while pressing the "S" shortcut button.
2. When you want to turn the control dial anti-clockwise, press the <- (left arrow/macro) button while pressing the "S" shortcut button.

A bit of a cludge, but it does work.

Cheers
