I have a Canon A510 Powershot just laying around the house not being used. Would this be a decent camera to use when I go diving? What would a good case be? Do the "bags" work well?

I'm not expecting a lot, just want something I can mess with and get somewhat decent photos.

Look up prices on the Canon WP-DC60 underwater housing for the A510 and A520 Powershot. Prices seem to be in the $160-180 range

I had one of this util last week. It fell down and broke.
If you can later buy an external strobe, it is better to keep this camera and get the housing than buy a new one. Maybe you can find some an used one.
This camera is only 3.2 mp, but the newer Powershot´s Axxx series cameras do not have manual controls. You cannot work well with external strobes.
Sometime ago I was thinking about upgrading to a newer camera, but I decided to buy strobes and external wet lenses first and can I surely take better pics with this setup, than having only a G10.
Now I can think about a newer camera.
I still have the housing. Maybe I could sell it, or could buy your camera... but I´m in Brazil.
