I borrowed my friends new housing for my cannon G11. The housing allows for TTL shooting when in auto mode when connected with an optic cord to the strobe (YS 110) set in slave mode on set to TTL. The pictures are amazing when the strobe fires but quite often in auto mode the camera doesn't need a flash and therefore the strobe won't fire. I can set the flash (and strobe) to fire in other modes but TTL doesn't work. I can shoot manually and adjust the strobe but due to my inexperience I am off a little on the pictures. Is there a way to get the strobe to fire each time with the camera set on auto?

You should be able to set the flash to "forced flash".

Still, I would try to learn how to use aperture priority mode. TTL will still work, and in bright conditions you can set the aperture to F8 to block out some of the ambient light which will prevent you from getting good color with your flash.

hope this helps,
Scott
