I dove with them a while back when Ben Mooney was part of their operation. They were/are a really good dive op. However, their website (mayanaquadive.com) is no longer active. Is this company still in business?

I'll be in CUN the second week of December and my wife and I would like to book several days worth of two tank dives there. Small boats, DMs that care about their customers, nitrox if available, hotel pick up, all important.

Any suggestions?

Try Solo Buceo. They are one of the oldest dive operations in Cancun and have their own dock by the Dreams Hotel. I believe that everything that you are asking for can be arranged with them.

With out a doubt, Solo Buceo is the best in Cancun. Rodrigo Friscione is the owner and the shop was set up in 1979 by his father before Cancun was what it is today. Depending upon the season, they offer whale shark, manta and sailfin trips and can also get you to centoes. The shop is also loosely associated with Pelagic Life, a groupf of marine conservation folks.

Paradise Hunter, you are incorrect. Scorpio Divers is not Mayan Aqua Dive. Scorpio Divers is a company that was formed by Ben and Jorge when they left MAD. I dove with Ben after he left MAD and I am aware that he is no longer working in Cancun, otherwise I would certainly dive with Ben. I had a bad experience with Jorge once and would not dive with him again...I do not care to elaborate.

I will call solo buceo but I am still curious about MAD as there is a review about them on Trip Advisor as recently as Sept 7.

Also interested if anyone in Cancun has nitrox...yet.

Website is solobuceo.com

They offer PADI nitrox class so I assume they have nitrox.

To answer the original question, Mayan aqua Divers closed up shop some time this past summer.
Ben has not been working for MAD for about 4 or 5 years now. He started up Scorpio divers with Jorge, but he no longer works there either.
I think Ben is now on the west coast of Mexico, but not 100% sure of that.

What's the difference?

MAD was started by Ben, Carla and her husband in 2005/2006 or there abouts. Ben left MAD to start Scorpio with Jorge in about 2009 to offer a small dive offering in areas in and around Cancun that other shops didn't offer. Ben has since moved out of the Cancun area.

Does this clear up the difference any.
