Having just returned from Raja Ampat as a first-timer, there's a lot of new critters to me. This is the same critter in two shots. It was sticking out about an inch out of the sand and its body was about 1/2" wide. What do you think it is?

That's a snake eel. There are all kinds: napoleon, black fin, large spotted, black saddle... There are everywhere and I just call then all "snake eel things." :)
