I tried searching for info on this subject but found nothing.

I bought a new regulator last Christmas. I used it for 6 months and each time I would dive several times over a period of days, I would start to feel dizzy when not diving.
At first I was worried about this but not enough to stop diving. After a while, I just decided it was something I was going to have to put up with if I wanted to continue diving.

In August, I bought another regulator and passed my old one down to my daughter. During our dive vacation, I realized that I was not dizzy even though we were diving 2-3 dives a day for 5 days straight. I was happy to see that I had gotten over this problem. But then, my daughter complained that she had been feeling dizzy. It made me wonder...

Is it possible that the regulator has something noxious in it that causes it make the user dizzy? Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Did you smell your air in your tank when using that reg. Since it stopped when you were on vacation and obviously getting air from a different source, it may not be the reg at all.

I not only got dizzy but almost passed out when I saw the price a LDS had put on an APeks Black Pearl reg ;)
But seriously I would suspect air quality or maybe an allergy. Could you possibly have an allergy to latex or something? An allergist may be worth a call if this continues. I personally have never heard of this but I would be interested in hearing about it when you finally resolve it.

With your daughter now suffering the same problem, I too would suspect the reg, not the air. But I am uncertain what it could be. You might try swapping primary LP hoses (or 2nd w/hoses) between your kit and your daughters and see what happens. If it were mine, I would clean and relube it just to make sure that is not the source of the problem. Please let us know how this works out.

Are you diving from a boat or shore? Or both?

I always get a bit of vertigo after I get sea legs and then go back to land-lubbing ways.

I'm not sure about this but I would suspect the reg too. Is it possible that it is not exhausting all the air when you breath out??? Kinda like sypmtoms you would get if you "skip" breath????

Yo yo yo, she bought a new REG, got dizzy with it right out the box, then passed it on to the daughter who now gets dizzy. Seems very weird to me, what kind of reg is it??? Did it breath easy or did you have to suck the air out???

Dang, missed that "NEW reg" part, I better clean my glasses & have another shot of espresso.:D
Now its sounding like an adjustment problem, I bet the IP is cranked down & maybe making for a "sucking on a straw" effect.
How stiff is the hose, is it putting any strain on you to keep it in the mouth?

I get dizzy when I see the price of the Atomic regs, without diving them.

How many dive did you have? How many dives does your daughter have? It may be technique. How long after diving do you feel dizzy?
