Hello everyone,

I have a Sony HC-7 camcorder and the matching Ikelite Housing with an Ikelite wide angle lens.

Sometimes when I am shooting video, the camera will get the jitters. The image will be slightly out of focus and is almost like a double image. (kind of like watching a 3d movie without the glasses) This also seems to happen when the camera/housing gets bumped or jiggled a bit.

Once it gets into this situation, I usually have to turn the camera off and then restart it. I am not quite sure what is happening here. I am thinking that it might be something in the image stabilization or possibly the auto focus. Unfortunately it is difficult to see underwater when this happens and I usually end up with unusable video.

Another theory is that the add-on wide angle lens might have something to do with this as well. This is the Ikelite lens that screws on to the outside of the housing. I like the extra field of view this lens gives. This weekend I will try shooting without using the wide angle lens and see if it still makes a difference.

When it first did it, I was shooting in very poor visibility and low light, but I have had since had the same problem in very clear waters (Cayman Islands).

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or might have any suggestions.

Can you post an example of the issue you're having? I've been working in TV for over 20 years and that sounds like a camera problem to me. Does it do it when you shoot on land outside of the housing?
