Has anyone made their own or have plans on how to build a water sensor or do most just lay a couple of exposed wires on the bottom of the housing?

A couple of bare wires. Well, yes, that's all mine are, but the wires are attached to a PC board that amplifies the signal, and makes squawky noises, and flashes a LED at me.

I suppose you could make one yourself, but I doubt you can even get the parts for less money than a Leek Detector. Excellent and reliable.

All the best, James
