Cairns Dive trips and possible dive buddies

I am an American student going to school at JCU in cairns from late Feb-Jun and am looking to do a lot of diving. Where are the best diving bargains and what are the must dive sites. Also, are there any locals or other students that would like to get together and dive. Is shore diving possible in this area? Also what exposure suit would to recomend for this time of year. Any advice would be great.

Yes, you will find a like minded buddy at JCU, Im sure. How do I know, because they talk to us all the time. Will there be some good deals... Absolutely, that will all fit into your time frame.

Wet Suit ( what the heck are they???? ) Rashy or 3mm cut off are best.

Shore dives, not unless you want to dive with crocs.
