The reaon Mike Ball is expensive is that you fly one way up and motor back. You are also visiting the best reefs on the GBR. The Ribbon Reef areas are the best area. Spirit of Freedom offers a similar trip.
If you want a budget version then look at Taka which goes to the same sites but motors up and back so more travel time.
if these are still too expensive then look at the trips that go to the Outer Reef like Ocean Quest, Scubapro or the budget option Kangaroo Explorer. 2 day 1 nigh trips are also available if you don't have much time.
