My wife and I did our training in October. We are still waiting on our C-Cards. Is it normal to take this long? Also we forgot our dive logs on our OW trips, and then dropped them off for our instructor. That was 5 weeks ago, and we still haven't gotten those back. Our LDS has been great so far, but this seems a bit long.

Thanks...

My wife and I are experiencing a slow turn around from SDI/TDI. I checked with the LDS and they resubmitted the paperwork

You should have them by now, make sure your instructor sent in the paperwork.

I got my open water cert October 20th, received my card 2 weeks later (PADI)... as suggested call the certifying agency and make sure the paperwork has been submitted.

Almost sounds like the holdup is on the instructor side.

Make sure the instructor has processed all the paperwork, get your logs signed, call the certification agency. :)

I believe the PADI temp c-cards are good for 90 days, so get it sorted before that time runs out would be my advice.

Good luck.

Hi Reefwatcher,

Which certification company are you going through? If it is PADI, here's some information that may help. Once Instructors have everything they need (including your logs and your signatures on everything) there is a time limit on how long they have before submitting the information. Perhaps your instructor is waiting on something from you that you aren't aware of.

I would call your instructor and ask him or her if they have submitted the paperwork or if there is anything that they need from you prior to submitting it. If they have, you can call PADI yourself and ask about your c-cards. (1-800-SAY-PADI)

Hope this helps.

Which agency?

I've had 2 month turnarounds from IANTD.

Unless you're planning to dive outside of your area soon, don't worry about it. Your LDS should recognize your completion. I never bring cards to either of the shops I frequent.

We got certified through PADI.

Trust me we have called numerous times. Everytime promising a call back.

Last time we were in the manager of our LDS told us they could give us another temp card if need be. I wasn't too pleased with the response nor was my wife.

Our LDS is huge, but we know everyone on a first name basis. I'm surprised at there lack of response.

Thank you everyone for your responses, and the contact information. I will definately be giving PADI a call.

Reefwatcher: I think my OW card from Padi took about 2 months.

Others that I got after were probably faster, though I sortof quit caring how long it took :)

Unless you are going on a dive trip or are planning on going to a different LDS, a delay in getting the card isn't a big deal. It won't keep you from diving, it won't reduce the amount you learned (hopefully ;) ). I have never once been asked for a card by my LDS (or any other LDS I think). So go dive and get experience. I think the fact that the LDS is willing to give you another temp card is a reasonable response on their part if they handled the paperwork correctly.

Still, give PADI a call, but don't stress it.

Now that I think about it, you can also log in to the PADI site to see your record / order other cards. If your login works, the paperwork has been processed by PADI (you need your name and your birth date to log in from what I remember).
