Can an Olympus C-40xx use the 1 gb SM Card?
 
in short the answer is no.

The reason be is that the limitation of smart media is a max of 128 mb, this is because fuji and olympus orginally devolped this technology and found out that they couldnt enlarge beyond 128 because of size (thickness) limitations this is why they devolped the XD cards
