I was there a few years ago, but a wind blew in a whole bunch of blue bottles and our trip was cancelled. Do you see sharks there? We're hoping to go back to AU soon. Thanks

We had an absolutely fabulous time diving Julian Rocks at Byron Bay in 2005. But I'd have to take my hat off to you if you can snorkel there off the main beach -- that's quite a swim!

A bit of bad luck with blue bottles and they hurt ...the sharks around byron are various ..deadly ones to undeadly ones ..its a bit unnerving having them come up behind you ..you need a sixth sence when they arrive ..its all a bit too quiet ..and when they do i scream in my mask at them and so far they go away .surfers have been bitten at byron on surf boards so there is some very deadly ones around .a bit like snakes .one day you see them another not one i sight .i found a gold soverien out near the old wreck off main beach and got $100 for it at a coin dealer and got it reported in the byron newspaper ..some one a hundred years ago had lost it off the old walf and i was lucky enough on that day to spot it snorkling .
