Bus: Singapore to Mersing

I'll be landing in Singapore (this March) after midnight and want to leave for Mersing as early as possible. I'm getting some conflicting information and was wondering if anyone has done this.

I read that there is a 6:30 am bus from Jalan Sultan Bus Sation, is this still true?

If this is correct; is it possible to book a ticket online? Or is there a phone number I can call?

And if there is a 6:30 bus, when is the earliest I could get to Tioman? I'll be diving with Eco or B&J (they are both good right?). I'll go straight to the shop, and hopefully be able to get in the water soon after.

Five Stars used to have an (expensive) bus at 6:30am going from Golden Mile Complex to Mersing. As far as I know there is no internet booking possibility, but you can call them at +65 6392 7011.

Transnasional also has buses to Mersing, but I don't think an early one. You can contact them at +65 6294 7034 .

I think with the 6:30 bus and a bit of luck you should be able to get a 10am Ferry and be in Tioman about two hours later.

Alternatively if you are willing to spend some more money you could try to get a taxi from Singapore to Mersing (or Singapore -JB, JB - Mersing) very early in the morning (3:30am?), reach Mersing before 7am and be in Tioman in time for a pre-lunch dive. I'm not sure if diving is advisable after such a short night though

I have good experience with Eco Divers. They seemed to be less crowded and a bit friendlier than B&J. I also can recommend Tioman Reef Divers. Advise completely subjective of course!

Thanks Morid. I'll give Five Stars a call in a couple months and see if I can book a ticket. Will I be able to exchange money into Malaysian RM at the airport in Singapore? I could get ringgits in Mersang, but I won't have the time.

I would definitely change money into M$ at Changi.
