Burn times on LED 700 upgrades?

I'm interested in the burn times that people are getting if they converted their MR11 HIDs to LED 700s.

My light was upgraded in March, and I can't get longer than 2 hours of burn time. It's substantially dimmer at the 1 hour mark that during OW diving, it's not worth keeping lit.

The battery is not new, and doesn't need to cycle to get the full charge. Prior to the LED 700 upgrade, the MR11 HID was getting 3.5+ hours of burn.

Charged battery voltage was 13.5v. At the one hour mark, voltage was 11.9v.

I am getting 4 hours from one battery and 3.5 hours from my other older battery in my LED 700.

My thoughts are that there is defintitely something wrong with yours.

I am getting at least 3 hours with no dimming. I have not burn tested to see how far it will go. Three cave dives in a day is usually over three hours and mine is still bright. Could be your battery is the issue, but I have seen significant difference between different 700's. Do you have access to another lighthead that you can use to burn test your battery?. You can do that in your kitchen sink. If another light does the same you have your answer. If not it is something in the light. Mine burns really bright and I saw a "new rental" that was more dim. If you test the battery and it is ok, then, you might want to ship it back and have it checked in case it is a problem in the light.

I'm running the 700 upgrade on a wreck canister with 4.6 a/h SLA batteries and I'm getting over 3 hours with no perceptible dimming.

I have a West Mountain CBA2 to burn test my batteries and they all test at 3.3-3.7 amp/hours running at a 1 amp load with 10.5v cut-off.

Hi Don,

You need to cycle the battery again. At 11.9v you should be getting full charge from your LED. My guess is perhaps your light sat for a couple of months or over the winter? If this happens, all you have to do is cycle your battery again. NiMH batteries like to be used ALOT. Give it 3-4 cycles with your new LED and you should be good to go.
