I have a 20D in an Ike housing with two DS-125 strobes. I just took it into the pool for the first time today. My instructor and I were practicing shooting a plastic artificial reef he had put together. Anyway the whole setup was pretty negative. It felt really heavy in the water and seemed like it kept pulling me around. Does anyone have this same setup? How does it behave in salt water? If the strobes are making it too negative, does anyone have any ideas how to make it more buoyant?

Thanks

Michelle

I shoot the same rig with an 8" dome. I estimate 2 lbs negative in salt water. I use my carry strap as a lanyard just in case I have to let go of it. 2 lbs for me makes a big difference in my weight trim especially in the first (2nd) atmosphere.
Hope that helps you.

I use pool floats on the strobe arms. They compress at depth but still help. I put enough on so the rig is slightly positive at 20 feet, and I attach an ankle weight to neutralize it on my safety/deco stop. It's easy to take the weight off at depth and just attach it to a D-ring. Not a great solution but it helps.
