Has anyone been to Buford Springs lately? I was there about 4 weeks ago (August 1) and with the heavy rains we had around that time, it was browned out. I even ran a line from the ladder (as the visibility was zero at the ladder) down to 100 feet and there was still no visibility whatsoever. I am scheduled to take an Advanced Recreational Trimix class there this coming weekend. Can anyone give me a recent conditions report? Thanks!

Made two dives in Buford Sink on Jan 7...perfect conditions!!! Visibility was essentially unlimited....depended on the power of your lights!!! probably close to 100 feet. Check with Bird's underwater in Crystal River before you go.... Bill teaches a lot of classes there and Eagle's Nest (close by) and he usually has good intel. I had been waiting for several months for the opportunity. A superb dive!!

A friend and I dove the Buford Sink today. Air temp was in the low 60’s, water temp was 73.4. Felt great!

There were two other sets of divers when we arrived. During our SIT, two other pairs had arrived, along with about 10 free divers.

This was my first time so I can’t compare viz, but it looked great to me. You could see the opening from anywhere below.

Max depth for us was 101. We had lights but…

One of the friendliest places I’ve been locally. Everyone was pretty chill.

I made two more dives there on Jan 14th...it was fabulous again, went to around 125 ft depth and we could still see the light coming from the opening shaft at the surface! Incredible vis! Water temp standard 71F. Really nice day, fun dives.

Bump!
I'm taking Advanced Recreational Trimix students to Buford Springs next weekend. I've heard reports that it is "browned out". Anyone been there in the last week or so?

Haven't been there lately but very likely completely blacked out due to heavy rains lately. Wouldn't count on any decent vis right now.
