Hi all,

Have been looking around for budgetry trip to dive in Palau.

Anyone has been or experienced?

The best I find for LOB so far is USD 2200. Resort (2dives) for about USD 1000. If I were to stay in the resort/budget house, not sure about the cost of living; any recommendations?

I will need to travel to Manila and transfer over to some flights. Wonder if they operate from the same terminal?

Any kind souls???:10:

We had good experience with Godwin at Storyboard Resort on Peleliu. Although there's pretty mcuh nothing else to do on Peleliu except diving and hanging out.

see West Plaza hotel, near Sam's.

there are cheap flights now flying from manila via davao philippines on Asian Spirit. they fly 3 times a week and it is much cheaper than flying continental. you will have to transfer from the international airport to the domestic airport in manila. once you do that the flights are very nice and not crowded at all.
once in palau there are many options for cheap hotels some of the budget hotels are about $50/night and are conveniently located in town. one nice and clean hotel is The Guest Lodge. you can also find some small dive operators so you can avoid the crowds like at Sam's Tours and Fish-n-Fins, they tend to pack them in on their boats.

In Palau, it is worth checking with several of the liveaboards when you get there to see if they have extra spots. Some of the boats will discount spots 40% if you show up in person and there boat is not full (they can shuttle you out to the liveaboard with a day boat). The Palau Pacific resort is the only hotel with a beach. The cheapest way to book it was on the internet directly from their website - no discounts for walk-ins. While the Palau Pacific is not in the city of Koror, they have a free shuttle bus. Cheaper accomodation can be found in the city. The Palau Hotel was only $25-35 for a double with a frig and cable TV.

Most dive shops charged $100 for a 2 tank day dive. The liveaboards did 5 dives per day ... I think it is worth it.

Thank you for the many advices...am now checking with some of the operators currently.

Any idea the rough cost per meal ? Planning to stay at the resort as they seemed to be one of the best option in terms of my budget....though 2 dives per day..

Hey Dojio, I almost forgot about this crucial bit.

Was planning the trip from Singapore or Malaysia to Philippines International airport...looks like I can try go for Clark airport; if that is also what Asian Spirit does ?

If that happens, then perhaps I stand a slightly better chance to hitching the LOB package....

More suggestion and advice please....itching to dive !!!!!!!!!
