Buddy has a daylong tour that goes up to Slagbaai. We are heading to Bonaire in April. Anyone done that trip? Worth it from a time and $ perspective? Any comments? THANKS!

Wecome to the board.
I did the trip last June. Whether or not it is worth doing depends on several things. If you are new to Bonaire then personally I would say no, you have way too many other spots to dive and expereince to spend the day on a boat. That is also the advise I will give you about doing boat dives in gerneral on Bonaire on your first trip -save the extra $120 pp for your next trip fund. On the other hand, if you have been to Bonaire a lot then it's worth doing once just for something new. Same goes for the "wild side" boat tours, fun to do once but should be saved for a later trip.
When in April ? Serveral of us will be at Buddy April 16-23, always nice to meet another SB member.
If you have never been to Bonaire, I encourage you to spend sevral hours (it will take that long) to read over all the hints and tips that have been posted on the board over the years. They will save you some grief and better prepair you for the trip....you do have hard soled boots don't you. :)

Everything he said. We did the Park 3 dive March 2010, my 6th trip, probably # 12 or 13 for my buddy. Wanted to get to sites not accessible (or easily) by truck. It is a long full day ~ ride up, 3 dives plus intervals. We loved it ~ steeper walls, gorgeous corals and a rippin drift dive. Probably won't do it again for a few more trips, but it was worth doing, IMHO. Again, look for prior trip reports (mine included) for information. It will take several days of reading!

Boat is the way to dive Klein. Then some days we are just lazy and only want to drag our gear as far as the boat dock. Some days we get so beat and bruised shore diving the ease of boat diving provides respite. To each their own!

When in April?

Thanks ALL for your information, and I'll check out your trip reports.

we've been to Bonaire several times, and have always wondered about that part of the island (and the wild side tours as well). I am a bit sheepish to say We've only been as far north diving as Carpata, because we too can be lazy or beat up and stick to the boats, the docks, and the southern end!! Plus, as we don't get there as often as I would like to, I like to stick to place which are more "familiar"....

We'll be there April 9-16!!!

...BTW - - Yes, Herman, I have hard soled boots. Don't leave home without 'em!!1 :D ;)

Going to Bonaire late March for the first time. Can anyone recommend specific hard soled boots? I have reef shoes that I use in the tropics with a heavy sole but I wouldn't call them "hard" soles.
