Hey all,

im looking to buy my own gear but i still have to try out the back inflation and Bp/W. Im having trouble finding dive shops here that have back inflation or BP/W for hire. I dive almost every weekend and im trying to find a shop that would hire one. Any ideas where i can get a BP/W or even purchase. I found some interesting packages online, but most would be >1000AUD causing problems with customs (more money to pay).

I really like the Transpac Harness, they look really cool. Others have favored the WTX over the Transac but im not sure. I find the Red DiveRite Transpac perfect with my underwater style..:crafty:

Thanks in advance

Try Dive 3 or Mantis in Brisbane.

D3 have metal plates & DR Transpacs. You could probably manage to hire something.

Mantis are NAUI UDT types, so only like metal BP. I'm pretty sure you will be able to rent from them.

Give Chris at Dive Tub (WA internet) a call. He often has Zeagle BP/W to trial floating around the country.

If all else fails organise yourself a weekend away at Mullaway or Byron.

Then let me know (PM) when & I'll bring my Transpac & a SS BP/W down for you to try.

PS. A good BP/W from DSS, http://www.deepseasupply.com/ , is quite a bit less than AU$1000. Ask for it to be sent USPS, freight charges are getting exy. Tobin, like Chris, will dazzle you with customer service.

PPS. Just had a look at the US/Oz exchange rate. The Oz $ has collapsed over the last month or so.

Hey kern,

thanks for your input. Ive already emailed D3 and Chris. Im really interested in the Transpac. What do you think of it. Which wings do you have attached to it? I was thinking of getting the DR Travel wings since i wont be using 2 tanks, and i travel alot. What do you think?

The tranpac is a great little harness - its very compact, very adjustable and instantly makes you the coolest person on the boat.

I find the TP to be comfortable, well made & modular. All up I think it's a good platform to run a single tank or double tanks back or side mount.

My only real complaint is it's inherent buoyancy of about 3-4lb. 1 more block of lead to wear.

I have an older 40lb trek wing, I use with the TP. I think the new ones are more buoyant with different dimensions. I'v not actually seen a travel wing, new or old, so I can't really comment.
