Hi all,

The wife and I are emigrating to Brisbane in August and we're both Advanced Open Water certs. Does anyone have any recommendations of the local dive centres? We're looking for one that has a busy schedule, great staff and good servicing facilities, if that’s not too much to ask. We also plan to start our Dive Master before the end of the year.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,

Most of the dive shops in Brisbane will be an eye opener for you thats for sure - interesting business practices!

Saying that the best of the bunch (and all round good guys) for dealing with is Dive Dive Dive in Tingalpa. Adreno in Wooloongabba is worth a look for cheap pricing as well.

For dives I'm biased and recommend you join Unidive the Unversity of QLD dive club, you dont have to be a uni student to join either. Lots of varied and interesting diving at reasonable costs.

Definitely Dive Dive Dive for servicing!

Nautilus has a good boat for fast trips out to Flinders reef but I got really bored of them visiting the same 3 sites every single time.

Pro-Dive and Go-Dive - no comment (you work out why!)

Give me a shout when you're settled and we'll go for a dive!

Hi BB1,

Firstly thanks for you prompt response and advice.

My wife is looking into changing career and maybe training to be a dive instructor. She is aiming to do her Rescue Diver as soon as we land. Can you maybe advise which dive centre would be good to work her way through the courses.

I had already looked at all the dive shops/centres you mentioned but it really good to get some local knowledge about them. I know some can be like chalk and cheese. I hadn't heard of Dive Dive Dive and they look to service Apeks kits which will suit us as we have just bought all our gear to take over with us. We need to get our regs reconfigured anyway so will be sure to drop in there so we can hit the water asap.

UniDive looks really good and having looked aroundy they definately look like a club which would appeal to us. I take it your a member there? :)

Once again thanks for the sound advise.

Cheers for now.
Dave

Hi Dave

Check out Brisbane Dive Academy at Tingalpa, these guys can also train your wife up to instructor and have some really good quality course packages, they also service gear and give personal service.

Thanks Ozzydamo and Brissy Diver...will be sure to check these out. Appreciate the advise!!!
