Bringing food into Curacao

I saw an old posting about this topic, not sure how old it actually was, by Sunshine, but wanted new info if possible. We are meeting some folks there who will be at the end of their month long stay at All West and we will be at the start of ours. We usually get a powerful "JONES" for beef after a couple of weeks there :drooling: and we are thinking about bringing a big rib roast for dinner with our friends and lots of good leftovers.

I have heard about a big grocery store there that has American beef, but don't know where it is. Would the quality be similar to what we can get here in the US of A?

Is bringing meat into the country allowed?

I can't tell you about bringing food into the country but I can tell you their beef tastes a lot different than what I am used to. I am pretty sure they are talking about the Centrum grocery store. It is approximately 45 mins from All West and is where we shop when we stay in Curacao. They have everything you could want but mostly under different name brands. They do have some recognizable brands though. I would suggest sending Sunshine a P/M and she can answer the questions a lot more detailed then I can.

You can get good ole USDA beef at Cost-U-Less and also at a restaurant supply called "Nova" in Zeelandia.

Jeff got online earlier than I did this morning..... Yes, American beef at Cost U Less. I buy (and everyone can) wonderful steaks and other cuts at Nova and from another supplier. They also have US and Argentinian. If you don't need the roast when you first get here, I can pick one up with my weekly shopping on a Thursday. I think the rib roasts will cost around $20 a kilo (maybe $16 a pound). Prices go up at Christmas.
You can bring food into the country but not back into the states.
Don't forget, Jeff is serving his personally caught lionfish at the Iguana Café.

Where is the Cost-U-Less? We have been out there twice now and have not shopped anywhere other then the Centrum.

Hrmm, if you are coming from Westpundt to Centrum take a left at the light that is one light before Centrum. About 2 miles down on the right.

Thanks, I'll give them a try sometime on our next trip. I'll probably still bring the meat from here for our friends since they will only be there for a few days overlapping with us. Also less then half the price at Costco.
