It's been mentioned here numerous times before that some folks find snorkel keepers to be great octo holders. I use them myself. But I was recently talking to a DM friend of mine who was a bit frustrated at all the dangling octos of some of the students out for O/W. Since many supply their own gear, the unsecured equipment sometimes isn't noticed until the group is already at the lake. I recommended that my DM friend always keep a couple extra snorkel keepers in his pocket so he can offer students a quick way to secure their octo, whether discovered on the surface or u/w.

I usually keep an extra with me on dives just in a case a buddy needs one. Some of the more fancy ones don't always hold things securely and a weird turn or bump can jar the octo loose. That can be annoying.

Anyway, just wanted to pass that thought along. :blinking:

I found black snorkel keeper things, same things as the kind of clear rubber oring like ones you buy for $1.50 or $3 or whatnot at a dive shop, at Sports Authority for $.99

It's a cheaper way to stock up on them. Personally, I have this fancy scubapro octo holder to give away to the next person with danglies. I decided that the rubber snorkel keeper worked. Comeone companies, remember: if it ain't broke, don't fix it! The snorkel keepers work!

Sports Authority - 99 cents? Cool.

I just checked and I do need to restock. Thanks for sharing. :blinking:
