Location
Northeast US
I just returned from Bahia Brazil, northeast just outside Salvador. The area has a new coastal highway called the Estrada do coco (coconut highway). The new road connects with the next north state of Serjepe. There are many new resorts and revitalized coastal fishing villages. The villages and resorts have all the modern amenities and activities. There are many wreck dives and reef dives off shore of the city of Salvador and up the northeast coast. The Brazilian currency "real" is weak compared to the American dollar. The exchange rates are stable around $1.00 dollar = 2.20 real - your money goes a long way in Brazil and the cost of living, meals, activities are less then half of Caribbean and American destinations. The ocean water is clear blue and warm, great visibility.

There are several PADI dive shops in the area that provide all necessary rental equipment, discover diving courses to advanced courses.
